It's intended for running, climbing, riding, hiking, paddling, skiing, swimming... (the list goes on)
The fēnix 2 can connect with a heart rate monitoring strap to calculate your recovery time and VO2 max estimate.
Garmin offers a unique heart rate chest strap called the HRM-Run and this heart rate monitor strap adds data for cadence, ground contact time and vertical oscillation. The HRM-Run was introduced with Garmin's GPS running watch called the Forerunner 620.
What's really nice about the fēnix 2 is that it's waterproof (up to 50 meters) and for swimmers, it tracks your distance, pace, stroke count and more (just like the Garmin Swim watch).
fēnix 2 is equipped with both ANT+ capabilities and Bluetooth technology. That means that fēnix can also pair with several external devices, such as our temperature sensor, heart rate monitor and speed/cadence bike sensor.
