Try that fitness wearable before you buy it

Wish you could try that wearable before committing to buy it? One risky option is to purchase it from a store, try it, and return the gadget if you're not satisfied (and pay any mandatory restocking fee). Another option is to see if you could borrow a device from a friend for a few weeks (assuming that your friend stopped using the gadget). A third option is to "rent" a device from a company like Lumoid that lets you try out a wearable device for 2 weeks before you make the commitment to purchase one. I've never tried using Lumoid, but the concept sounds interesting and there must be a market out there for such a service. (Seems that Best Buy or Staples should be offering something like this as well.)
